What an unforgettable day!
The morning air crisp and breathtaking, began with the timely arrival of our amazing walkers who filled McGill Park Trail with energy, unity, and purpose. After the walk, everyone enjoyed good food, hot coffee and tea, and great music that kept the atmosphere vibrant and full of joy.
Our program kicked off with a powerful keynote address by Prof. Joyce Ashuntangtang, a cancer survivor, warrior whose words reminded us of awareness and early action save lives. We were deeply moved by the survivor stories shared by Dr. Engondu and Hawa, whose courage lit up the population at the park.
Then came an enlightening presentation and panel discussion with Dr. Edmond Folefac, who broke down cancer awareness with clarity and compassion. A heartfelt moment followed when a breast cancer patient’s husband spoke directly to the men, his honesty sparked one of the most meaningful Q&A sessions of the day.
A special thank-you goes out to the Veterans of the Cameroon Soccer Club in Columbus, the community, who showed up in full force and stayed with us from start to finish. Your presence and support meant the world.
We’re deeply grateful to our partners, The Welisane Foundation, BOGA, Business for Peace(B4P), Fatou Foundation, Greater Success Ohio, and Britevue Mental Health Services for making this event possible.
Together, we walked for awareness, courage, and community. And together, we continue the fight. 💕
