The war in the Cameroon continues to elevate poverty, destroys families, and expose vulnerable young girls to abuse. Most internally displaced young women are left without their families to support and care for them and they are unable to provide essentials such like Pads.
JustLikeYouGlobal Foundation is a trusted provider of support to people affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. We offer a variety of services, such as providing menstrual hygiene products, preventing teen-age pregnancy, and preventing sexual exploitation. Our goal is to help those who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing violence and exploitation to gain the knowledge and confidence to live free, healthy and independent lives.
Every year, distributes disposable pads to underprivileged and internally displaced young women.
The pad program’s main goals are:
- To end period stigma by encouraging period-related conversation in the community(parents, teachers, young boys and men).
- Support the girls and women who are unable to afford period-related necessities
- Prevent teenage pregnancies.
- Teach overall hygiene
The Process:
Pads, brochures and menstruation bracelets are distributed quarterly to young girls in remote villages, orphanages, and other areas of need.
Impact to the community.
JLU’s pad program curbs the high rates of menstrual-related absenteeism, increases school attendance and increases young girls’ self-confidence.
